Have the next big idea, but need to find a funder? Working on starting a non-profit after you graduate? Don't miss this opportunity with the Draper Richards Foundation.

The Draper Richards Foundation funds early-stage nonprofits that intend to grow. And it is always looking for the next great people to fund. Draper Richards provide 3 years of funding ($100K per year), as well as technical support and counsel. Anne Marie Burgoyne, DRF’s Portfolio Director, will be at the Net Impact conference and is interested in having social entrepreneurs “pitch her” on their organizations. She has four available slots and will award them to the people who appear to be the furthest along in thinking about their work and the most committed to pursuing their work upon graduation. If you are interested in talking to Anne Marie while you are at the conference, please email conference@netimpact.org.

Career Expo

Recruiter Success Story from the 2007 Career Expo
Making connections is the key to the Career Expo.  Read what this recruiter has to say about Net Impact Conference attendees – and her success in connecting with the right candidate.

"We recruited at the Net Impact annual conference for the first time in 2007.  As a nonprofit finance institution, we found many conference attendees to have the right balance of financial acumen and mission-orientation we seek in prospective employees.  We interviewed several candidates and, in the end, found one that fit our Professional Development Program (PDP) perfectly.  All students we met were professional, articulate, and well-prepared.  We look forward to recruiting at the conference for many years to come."

Submit your resume for the 2008 North America Resume Book
This year’s resume book will be an alphabetically-organized searchable PDF with a special keyword section at the bottom of each one-page resume.  Our new format is easier for recruiters to search, which will allow recruiters from great companies and organizations, like Apple, Calvert, Sun Microsystems, GE, NCB Capital Impact, and more to see your resume.

Once you are finished editing the template, please save it as a PDF* with your name as the title:  your last name, then your first name, then your middle initial/name.  For example, “SMITHMARKJACOB”  Attach the PDF to an email and send it to resumes@netimpact.org with the same title as the subject line by October 15, 2008.  You will receive a confirmation email once we have received it. This opportunity is for registered attendees only. Sign up today and submit your resume!

Notes:

  • You may choose to exclude certain sections, but please leave the formatting as close as possible to the original to create consistency within the book. If you vary the format too drastically (by changing fonts, organization, etc.), your resume cannot be included in the book
  • Your resume may only be one page long – anything beyond the first page will not be included.
  • Please choose no more than 5 keywords/phrases
  • Please be sure to follow the file naming convention noted above. If you do not follow this convention, your resume cannot be included in the book

*If you don’t have a PDF creator, download a free one from the web.  Try Primo PDF or CutePDF.

Volunteer Appreciation

Meet this Month's Featured Volunteers
Net Impact conferences are put together by a team of talented and dedicated volunteers who, in addition to helping develop the curriculum, market the conference, recruit career expo exhibitors and plan all  conference logistics and social events, are enrolled in a rigorous graduate program. This year’s team is from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

>> Read more about our Design Team

The Design Team is assisted by a team of volunteers. This month, Net Impact and the Design Team would like to thank Elizabeth Curran and Zlatin Ivanov for their work on the conference.

Zlatin Ivanov, Catering Lead

Zlatin IvanovA native of Haskovo, Bulgaria, Zlatin is a Computer Science graduate of the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. He spent seven years in the new media space in New York, thriving during the most brutal post-dot-com bubble years at… a dot-com(!) and partaking in New York magazine’s Web 2.0 success. Zlatin is a Finance and Strategy major at Wharton. This summer, he worked on several sell-side deals and a merchant banking project at Raiffeisen Investment, the leading M&A advisory in Central and Eastern Europe.

Zlatin is passionate about human rights and equal access. He has been a loyal supporter of Save the Children and the Human Rights Campaign, and serves as a Diversity Representative and an LGBT Admissions Outreach person at Wharton. Though with two left feet, Zlatin danced Hip Hop and Salsa on stage in front of several hundred MBA classmates this spring. He is doing it again soon.

Elizabeth Sullivan Windram, Panel Manager

Elizabeth Sullivan WindramElizabeth Sullivan Windram is pursuing an MBA at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with concentrations in Marketing and Operations Management. She graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Duke University, Magna Cum Laude.  Previously, Elizabeth worked as an investment banker at Citigroup in New York and in business development at Terra Firma Capital Partners, a London-based private equity firm.  Escaping the world of finance, Elizabeth spent a fantastic summer at Brown-Forman Corp. in Louisville, KY on the brand management team for Finlandia Vodka.

Elizabeth is a visiting board member of the Parent-Infant Center in Philadelphia.  She is a trained crisis hotline listening volunteer for the Samaritans UK and also volunteers with FeelingBlue.org, a Pennsylvania-focused suicide awareness and prevention group.  Elizabeth’s great loves are children’s theater, good coffee and her husband, writer Anthony Windram.

Katie Mullen, Curriculum Chair, says of Elizabeth: "We would like to congratulate Elizabeth Sullivan for her outstanding work putting together conference panels over the summer. Not only did Elizabeth continue to develop the panels she had originally agreed to develop while working over the summer, she also was willing to step up and develop additional panels. We salute Elizabeth for her commitment to using business practices and principles and her willingness to devote so much of herself to making sure others can be similarly inspired."
