Together, let's try to double recycling rates.

Today only 25% of recyclable PET beverage bottles are actually being recycled. That's not enough! Nestlé Waters has made a commitment to double that rate by 2018—or sooner—and, in partnership with Greenopolis, you can help achieve this ambitious goal. Net Impact members are being challenged to create a plan that will successfully motivate U.S. students—and eventually all of society—to recycle all bottles, cans, and other disposable drink packages.

Consider:

  • What information do students need to recycle more diligently?
  • What creative, sustainable business plan would implement solutions to these needs?
  • What resources do they need? What incentives?
  • And can those solutions eventually be applied beyond college campuses?
Pour it on.

It’s time to tap into your skills, passion, and intuition—and let your creativity flow as you develop an innovative and workable strategy. You can also tap into these valuable tools from Nestlé Waters and Greenopolis:

Take the challenge.

Here’s the scoop: Nestlé Waters and GreenOps are hoping to pilot a savvy recycling solution on a university or college campus in January 2010—but first they need a business plan. That’s where you come in.

You and your team (up to three members per team) could be the ones to design and implement a pilot strategy that will then be used to roll out GreenOps Tracking Stations on campuses nationwide—and your plan cold help boost recycling rates across the U.S.!

Then take the loot.

The judges will be selecting three Net Impact teams to advance to the finals to present their plan. These teams will each win:

A free trip to the 2009 Net Impact Conference, November 13-14, at Cornell University, including registration, air, and hotel expenses.

The grand prize winning team will also receive a $5,000 cash prize!

Thank you to all applicants who entered the re-source™ Challenge by completing the “mini-case." The judges are in the process of reviewing all entries. Winners will be notified by October 15.

An esteemed panel of judges will select three teams to compete in a case competition at the 2009 Net Impact Conference. The winning team will receive a cash prize and will have the opportunity to implement their business plan on campus as a pilot—plus gather data, and determine viability.

This is an exciting opportunity to participate in a “real-time” teaching case–where key decisions have not yet been made, and students will help determine the actual outcome.

Join the re-source™ Challenge with Net Impact, Nestlé Waters, and GreenOps and make your impact.
