About The Oath Project

Net Impact is excited to announce our partnership with The Oath Project, a nonprofit organization serving the movement to incorporate an oath into the MBA graduation process. This rite of passage, a tradition for incoming doctors, lawyers, and other professional trades, holds its incoming leaders to the higher standard of integrity and service to society that is the hallmark of a true professional. The Oath Project supports and enhances the efforts of the individuals and organizations pursuing this mission for MBA graduates. Read the Oath.

Other partners involved in The Oath Project include the World Economic Forum's Young Global Leaders, the MBA Oath, the Aspen Institute, the UN Principles for Responsible Management Education, the UN Global Compact, and the Association of Professionals in Business Management.

Why is Net Impact involved in The Oath Project?

Net Impact’s mission of inspiring and equipping individuals to change the world through business fits well with the mission of The Oath Project.  Participating in an oath ceremony gives students the opportunity to make a public declaration of their commitment to being responsible business leaders. While The Oath Project understands that taking an oath is not sufficient on its own to ensure business leaders act responsibly, it is an important step in elevating our focus and commitment to this important personal choice.  Furthermore, as part of the Oath Project, oath-takers are encouraged to commit themselves to a series of “habits” or activities to live the oath, which make credible the act of taking the oath.

How is Net Impact involved?

As Net Impact members embody and strive for a higher standard of integrity in their actions and decisions as professionals,  we hope that our chapters and members will be leaders in this movement to make the oath present on all MBA campuses.  Net Impact is encouraging and supporting chapters around the world to bring the oath to their campuses.  We will support students interested in organizing an oath ceremony at their school by providing resources and connecting them with students around the world who are engaging in similar efforts. Student leaders will have the opportunity to share best practices through conference calls and online.
