September 2008 Featured Speaker of the Month: Joel Makower

Joel Makower has been a well-respected voice on business, the environment, and the bottom line. As a writer and advisor on corporate sustainability practices, he has helped a wide range of companies align environmental goals with business strategy. Joel is founder of GreenBiz.com and co-founder of Clean Edge Inc., a research and publishing firm focusing on building markets for clean-energy technologies.

A former nationally syndicated columnist, Makower is author or co-author of more than a dozen books, including "Beyond the Bottom Line: Putting Social Responsibility to Work for Your Business and the World," "The E-Factor: The Bottom-Line Approach to Environmentally Responsible Business" and "The Green Consumer".

With the release of Makower’s new book, “Strategies for the Green Economy” (Mcgraw-Hill) he will be traveling the country every month, speaking to conferences and companies. As a member on Net Impact’s Advisory Council, he has offered to coordinate his visits with Net Impact chapters, to engage in seminars, talks, brownbags, or other get-togethers.
