What do solar farms, tree intercropping, educating women and girls, and high-speed rail all have in common? They are some of the 100 most substantive solutions for reversing global warming as outlined in Dr. Paul Hawken’s NYT Best Seller, Project Drawdown.

Drawdown is referred to as the point in time when the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere starts to decline on a year-to-year basis. While climate change seems like a harrowing challenge, it is solvable! As Dr. Hawken said in his keynote speech on stage at the 2017 Net Impact Conference, "we know the problem; let's focus on the solutions."

Now you can join his movement and make an impact on climate change through the Net Impact Drawdown INNOVATE Program. Developed in partnership with Dr. Hawken, this program will help you imagine original ideas that scale climate solutions and ultimately move us all towards a better climate future.

Interface, Inc., the world’s largest manufacturer of modular carpet with a strong record in sustainability, has also joined Drawdown INNOVATE.  As a part of their Climate Take Back mission, the company is addressing climate change through the built environment.

Interface’s newest sustainability mission, Climate Take Back, aims to lead business and society to reverse global warming through four key areas. One of the strategies for Climate Take Back, called “Love Carbon,” is directly aligned with Project Drawdown. “Love Carbon,” asks that we stop seeing carbon as the enemy and instead use it as a resource. What are some practical areas where we can use the excess carbon in the atmosphere in productive ways?

Across the world, Drawdown INNOVATE will host ideation workshops where attendees will use design thinking, systems thinking, and business planning to imagine new business models, products, and services based on the solutions outlined in Project Drawdown. Teams will be supported by Net Impact Central and provided a toolkit that guides them through every step of the workshop.

The three best ideas from these events will have the opportunity to attend an accelerator hosted by Net Impact Central in San Francisco and led by an innovation expert from Silicon Valley to develop and refine their idea. One winner will then be granted an internship with Interface Inc. This is your chance to develop ideas for new ventures, gain skills in the field of social entrepreneurship, enhance your resume, make a difference as part of the new climate movement, and ultimately contribute to the most pressing environmental issue of our time.

The deadline to sign up your chapter and receive toolkits to get started in Drawdown INNOVATE is January 20.

Note - only Net Impact Chapter members are eligible to receive $75 project funds, get support, and win prizes. Join or start a Net Impact Chapter today to gain a network of active change agents and build the skills and experiences to use your career as a platform for good.
