For Net Impact’s first-ever SF Climate Week, we partnered up with PG&E for “Plugging Into the Future: Decarbonizing California’s Energy Grid” on Thursday, April 24, 2025. The house was packed with over 150 guests in-person and another 85 attendees tuning in on the virtual stream. The event highlighted PG&E’s leading work to decarbonize the state’s energy grid as well as the climate professionals working across the transportation decarbonization sector.
The event kicked off with PG&E Corporation’s Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Chief Sustainability Officer, Carla Peterman, who presented on the utility company’s innovative vehicle to grid program, which allows the EV batteries to send power back to the grid during times of peak energy demand.
The event also featured three professionals who are working to decarbonize the California energy grid in the transportation electrification space, moderated by the San Francisco Professional Chapter President, Dave Newberry. David Almeida of PG&E, Smriti Mishra of WeaveGrid, and Elizabeth Turnbull of the Alliance for Transportation Electrification (ATE), all shared their perspectives on the industry and their career journeys.
Attendees had time to network after the event to build connections across the Net Impact community. Overall, it was a great first SF Climate Week event, and we look forward to more events ahead.
The Net Impact staff also got to meet up with the Net Impact Berkeley (NIB) Undergraduate Chapter on the UC Berkeley campus. The NIB Chapter Leadership team also attended the event!
"It was wonderful to meet up with the NI Central team, both when we hosted them locally and when we attended their SF Climate Week event. It was truly inspiring for my fellow Net Impact Berkeley members and I to be able to learn about the work PG&E is doing to decarbonize the grid and to engage with so many talented
