14 members of the AGSM Social Impact Club were privileged to take part in a collaborative excursion with the Melbourne Business School Net Impact Club as part of the MBS-AGSM Cup held in Melbourne.

The excursion took in visits to 2 Melbourne-based social enterprises:
- STREAT and
- CERES (Centre for Education + Research in Environmental Strategies).

STREAT is a social enterprise that provides homeless youth with the life-skills, work experience and training they require to start a career in the hospitality industry.

Mr. Ian Johnson spoke to the clubs of the challenges faced by STREAT in building upon their current 4 Melbourne locations, and continuing to build their brand as an investable social enterprise with a stretch goal of assisting 1100 homeless youth every year.

CERES is an award winning, not-for-profit, sustainability centre built on a decommissioned rubbish tip/bluestone quarry and is located on 4.5 hectares on the Merri Creek in East Brunswick, Melbourne.

CERES’ green technology displays, buildings, education and training programs and social enterprises (CERES’ Organic Market, Café, Permaculture Nursery and Fair Food organics delivery) demonstrate food security, sustainable agriculture, energy efficiencies, renewables and water conservation in action.

CERES is a model for a future with sustainability, innovation and connectedness at its heart.

The AGSM Social Impact Club looks forward to future collaborative student and Alumni events in both Sydney and Melbourne with the Melbourne Business School Net Impact Club.
