The event is free and open to the public. Over eight years New Hampshire has witnessed pendular swings with regard to the issue of climate change. In 2007 citizens in 165 New Hampshire towns approved the NH Climate Change Resolution on Town Meeting Day. But in 2010 candidates of both parties distanced themselves from the issue, and in 2011 the NH Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative was on its heels in danger of being repealed by the legislature. What is the current state of play in New Hampshire? How are different constituencies addressing carbon pollution? How can science play an effective role within the context of public debate? What is the role of state and federal governments, and how can individuals make a difference? Roger Stephenson will present on politics and climate change, and the influence of the range of science disciplines on public opinion.
