Recent events close to home and many others all over the world have rightfully brought the topic of human rights violations to attention and made us question what we can do to help and advocate for these rights. Amnesty International India, in collaboration with Net Impact, is bringing its Youth Engagement Programme to Ashoka University through a workshop on human rights and hate crimes on 7th September 2019, 1 PM onwards (Venue TBD) . The free-of-cost workshop is an excellent opportunity to gain more knowledge about human rights and human rights violations.

The interactive workshop will be conducted by Mr. Sanam Sutirath Wazir, Senior Researcher and Campaigner, Amnesty International India. Mr. Wazir has had over 8 years of experience with campaigning against communal violence. His experiences growing up in Jammu and Kashmir and witnessing extreme human rights violations and communal violence at a young age have made him an ardent activist for human rights and for bringing justice to cases of human rights violations. He would be sharing his insights about the nature of hate crimes, the need for closure in cases of communal violence, and the targeting of minority groups in India.

The 1.5 hour workshop will cover several topics, including human rights, and will address extensively the issue of hate crimes, their types, trigger, and effects.
