New York University - Stern School of Business' undergraduate chapter has continously impressed us with their strong leadership and diverse offerings. Last year, as one of our Chapters of the Year finalists, they wowed us with their thoughtful membership engagement and mentorship programs, dynamic speaker series, and strategic vision.

New York University’s undergraduate chapter has once again created their own exciting, original program: The Net Impact Collaborative Experience (N.I.C.E.). The program connects social entrepreneurs with students that are passionate about social impact through a series of informal weekly workshops. Student entrepreneurs can practice professional skill-building (business casing, public speaking, etc.) and receive candid feedback from a community of peers, which often coincides with the target audience of the venture. Exposure to real social business initiatives brings to life practical applications of what students may be learning in their curriculum about social responsibility.

N.I.C.E. Director Dylan Qian has been inspired by how the workshop series has developed into a tight-knit community of social impacters that feel comfortable sharing their opinion on a range of social ventures “ranging from [the] purely theoretical to national operations.” While worried at first about sustaining momentum and gathering enough presenters for each week, he’s been pleasantly surprised by the steady stream of participants.

The program also offers students exposure to various on-campus social venture initiatives, which can help them find a project to pitch in and help with. Dylan Qian notes: “As starting your own venture becomes increasingly mainstream, alternative career paths at NYU Stern are also more likely to develop.”

The Net Impact Central team is hoping to make the framework for the N.I.C.E. program available to our entire chapter network soon. Keep an eye out for more information!
