The diversity and global reach of our chapters provides unique opportunities for collaboration, both within and outside of our network. We believe collaboration greatly enriches the chapter experience, and as chapter leaders, we strongly encourage you to build relationships with other chapters and organizations in your community.

In-network collaborations involve other Net Impact chapters and are an excellent way to strengthen your own chapter and other chapters in your region.

Out-of-network collaborations with clubs, organizations, and businesses outside the Net Impact network are a great way to form partnerships, build awareness of Net Impact in your community, and expand your membership base.

Join up with chapters and organizations in your area to co-host an event. The Social Enterprise Association, New York University’s graduate Net Impact chapter, partnered with the Luxury and Retail Club at their school for their annual Think Social, Drink Local event: a runway show and party featuring locally-sourced food, drink, and fashion designers. All proceeds from the event went to support the Social Impact Internship Fund, a stipend which supports first-year, full-time MBA students who pursue a summer internship focused on the intersection of business and society.

Work on a synergetic project together. The undergraduate chapters at University of Massachusetts, Boston, University of Connecticut, and Yale University got together to create Social Sector Jump-Start, a platform where mid-sized social enterprises can connect with socially-conscious college students who are looking to gain professional experience through remote, semester-long internships.

Host or participate in a competition. The Net Impact Case Competition hosted by University of Colorado, Boulder’s Leeds School of Business chapter is a two-day event which focuses on solving real-world sustainability business cases. Their event draws in competitors from top business schools (and Net Impact chapters!) around the world, where the winning team receives $10,000. They write: “The competition is an opportunity to bring together students, executives and businesses that share a common commitment to sustainable business practices and financial returns”.

Help launch, build, and mentor new chapters. This past year, we saw many strong chapters dedicate their time to helping new chapters within their local community by guiding them through the chapter launch process, sharing best practices, and connecting them to potential local partnerships. For example, the Minneapolis professional chapter acted as a mentor to the graduate chapter at the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management, inviting their members to attend their board meetings where they discussed ideas for event programming, student chapter transitions, and ways to improve cross-chapter coordination.
