The Net Impact January Chapter Magnifier is…TCU Neeley School of Business!

The TCU Graduate Net Impact Chapter started out the year with its membership count at zero, save for chapter president Annie Agarwal. Through a strategy shift and formation of a new leadership team, the chapter achieved a 16% increase in paid membership, a 20% increase in chapter budget, new corporate partners, and an energized outlook for the chapter’s future.

A Strong Leadership
According to Agarwal, the TCU Grad Chapter found itself in a troubling catch-22: lack of corporate relationships and events meant a lack of members, which meant lack of interest among the student body, and resulted in the lack of money. Agarwal even considered asking TCU to close down the chapter, but after building relationships with two fellow students, she asked them to form a leadership team, and together they got to work.

Cultivating Corporate Partnerships
Previously the chapter held voluntary, community-focused events, but the leadership understood that MBAs needed to derive tangible value from clubs. Cue the strategy pivot, when the leaders picked up the phone to cold-call corporations in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Forging partnerships with the likes of Exxon, Coca-Cola, Nike, J.C. Penney paved the way for the TCU chapter to recruit new members and expand its budget. The chapter hosted a Lunch & Learn series to bring other MBA candidates into the CSR conversation, which helped to boost and engage membership and set a solid event strategy into motion.

Looking Ahead
The TCU Grad Net Impact chapter had its hands full last semester forming a leadership team, recruiting members, and forming relationships with corporate partners. Not to mention the chapter ran two races for charity! Agarwal states that the chapter is “as active as ever” on the TCU Neeley campus, preparing for future events and gearing up for the Leeds Case Competition.

Congratulations to TCU Grad Net Impact!
