The goal of our event is to educate by raising awareness and generating solutions on a topic that has a major impact on our food supply and on climate which is food loss. Students will learn how our food system contributes to climate change and specifically the role a robust, sustainable, cold storage supply chain in sub-Saharan Africa plays in creating a more sustainable food system. Food loss, meaning food wasted before it reaches a consumer, accounts for 64% of all edible food that is lost. As students engage in the deliberative dialogue process they will get to take part in creating a solution that is both fiscally feasible and eco friendly.
