Kevin (a Kellogg alum and President, CEO of Fabretto, a nonprofit org in Nicaragua) was at Kellogg with three colleagues who work in Fabretto’s microenterprise group. With a small group of students he discussed the role of small businesses in creating value, how co-ops work, and the impact they have made thus far. He provided first hand experience of how he built his organization and best practices he has learned along the way.

He brought the following people:
• Nora is a coffee farmer and artisan who makes pine needle baskets
• Tatiana is part of the Nica Hope Cooperative that makes jewelry
• Mariela is the administrative lead for the enterprise group

This was a unique opportunity to speak to the people who are on the ground, in the co-op themselves, to really learn first hand how this has changed their life.
