Texas State University was selected to be the site for the launch of Awake Aware America national campaign. Through this initiative, "at promise" high school students are chosen to build a community through social media based on STEM education of blending technology and sustainability. The national campaign will be located in different urban hubs with different topics. Texas State Net Impact worked in conjunction with Brad Powell, social sustainability entrepreneur and C.C. Chapman, social media expert.

The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment launched the site with speakers, panelists, tour of the San Marcos River on the Aquarena Glass-Bottom Boats, work on campus with composting with tour of Bobcat Blend business site, Circuit of the Americas with Texas Parks and Wildlife speakers,tour of San Marcos Waste Water Treatment Plant with CH2M Hill, Lucia Athens (CSO for City of Austin), Professor Dumpster of Huston-Tillotson fame, Austin Chamber of Commerce. This program has been recognized by President Obama for STEM education focused on underserved communities.
