It can be tough to think up valuable events to bring your chapter on regular basis. That’s why we’re highlighting our “Events-in-a-Box” collection, a roundup of tried-and-true formulas for successful chapter events. With a healthy dose of preparation, these four toolkits are perfect for when you need to draw inspiration elsewhere to deliver an awesome event.

Friday Night Lights

You already know to turn off the lights when you leave your room, but what about campus classrooms, lecture halls, and offices? Campus building lights are usually left on for 48 hours or more over the weekend, even though students and faculty are away. Enter Friday Night Lights, a campaign that encourages your school to turn off the lights in campus buildings, saving money and lowering your school's carbon footprint!

Mt. Trashmore

The question remains: “Do we really know what goes where when it comes to recycling vs. landfill?” Mt. Trashmore is an on-campus exposition that makes a big stink (see what we did there?) about recycling behaviors and educates the community on what can, and should, be recycled.

Impact at Work(shop)

Making an impact with your career isn’t only for professionals in CSR or the nonprofit space, but rather anyone with the passion to take an impact idea and make it happen. The Impact at Work(shop) combines a brief panel of local intrapreneurs with an interactive workshop for participants to bring their ideas to life.
Who should do it? Professionals, employed students

Speed Networking

Help your chapter members connect with experts in different fields through a round-robin style networking event. In small groups, attendees rotate through a cadre of special guests from the corporate and nonprofit sectors for an enriching event of meeting new people and creating valuable connections!
Who should do it? Professionals, job-seeking students

Feel free to add your own special twist to any of the ideas above, and let us know what you did. Remember, your chapter must host at least six events and post them to your chapter’s web page by April as per the new chapter requirements.

Know of anything we missed? If your chapter has an event toolkit to share with the network, let us know at chapters@netimpact.org.
