On May 21, 2016, UC Davis MBA Net Impact will sponsor and help install a solar electric system for a low-income family in the City of West Sacramento.

The installation will be one of five installations taking place during the Solarthon. Solarthon is GRID Alternatives’ flagship community installation event, a fundraiser and solar block party that brings together people from all walks of life – individual fundraisers, corporate sponsors, job trainees, community leaders and the homeowners themselves – to install multiple solar PV systems in one community.

GRID Alternatives is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to make renewable technology and job training accessible to underserved communities. Last year, the organization’s Solarthon event brought together over 50 job trainees, community volunteers and corporate sponsors to install 15kW of solar power for five (5) families in West Sacramento in one day, eliminating 291 tons of GHG emissions over the systems’ lifetime, equivalent to the planting of 6,830 trees!
