BUSINESS & ENVIRONMENT SERIES: MEASURING SUSTAINABILITY

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

We’ve all heard the common business mantra, “You can’t manage what you don’t measure.” Data collection is key to setting goals and measuring progress – and sustainability is no exception.

Measuring environmental sustainability can mainstream your efforts within your organization, allow you to report and communicate your work, evaluate progress, and drive impact over time. But, the sustainability metrics organizations use vary widely depending on size, sector, stakeholder needs, priorities, and many other factors.

When it comes to environmental sustainability, how do you know what the “right” metrics are, and how do you ensure you’re measuring what matters?

At this session, local business leaders, cross-sector sustainability professionals, and featured speaker Mark McElroy, founder and executive director of the Center for Sustainable Organizations and developer of context-based sustainability metrics, joined in an interactive discussion on meaningful measurement. Networking, Q&A, and small group discussions will allowed attendees to share their own stories, learn from peers, and identify tangible takeaways to bring back to their workplaces.
