In 2019, the 11th Street Bridge Park will become the District of Columbia’s first elevated park, connecting the historic Anacostia and Capitol Hill neighborhoods that are geographically divided by the Anacostia River. A project of the Ward 8-based non-profit Building Bridges Across the River at THEARC, the Bridge Park will span the Anacostia River, constructed on top of the piers which once supported the old 11th Street Bridge. It's a chance to see a community-led process to spur community development and foster economic activity – in a sustainable manner -- come to fruition. Project staff members will give a presentation of this first-of-its-kind project in the community, as well as offer a walking tour of the site. You'll also be able to enjoy the opportunity to be outside in the crisp autumn weather!

We'll begin at the Anacostia Arts Center at 1231 Good Hope Road SE near the Anacostia Metro stop. The Anacostia Arts Center is approximately a half-mile walk from the Anacostia Metro stop or a short ride on the P6 bus. We will meet at the Art-drenaline Café inside the Anacostia Arts Center at 10:30AM.
