On January 17th (Ben Franklin's birthday), join in with several local sustainability-focused organizations in commemorating our country's first and most prominent social entrepreneur with a discussion on social entrepreneurship in today's world. This event will include short presentations from five local social entrepreneurs, discussion of their challenges and successes, a short talk on how Ben Franklin helped spawn the industry in our country, a short presentation on how the Civic Innovation Council can help you, and of course, networking with other sustainability enthusiasts in the community.

The five local social entrepreneurs presenting at the event come from the following organizations: Spira, DGridEnergy, FranciePants, Watusee Foods, and Union Kitchen. Full bios and company information for the speakers can be found on Google Drive by clicking here.
This showcase event is sponsored by several local organizations with the same mission: DC Net Impact, Mentor Capital Network, Agora Partnerships, Think Local First, and the DC Civic Innovation Council. See more information about us at the links below.

Please note that this event will be split into two parts: The first portion will be from 6-7:30pm and will involve short presentations from the entrepreneurs and ensuing group discussion. This will be in a smaller conference room, so space will be somewhat limited. We also would like to get started on time, so please be prompt. The second portion will be from 6:45-8:30pm and will involve general networking and discussion of the Civic Innovation Council and Ben Franklin's contributions on his birthday. This will be in a separate, larger room so space will not be as limited.

You are welcome to attend both portions, space permitting, however we request that you please register for both. Beer and light appetizers will be served courtesy of WeWork.
