About the US Team
The US-based Strategic Initiatives team is currently comprised of four full-time employees in the San Francisco office, who are responsible for a wide portfolio of projects including: development and external affairs, growth strategy, financial modeling, and investor/donor relations. This team supports over three hundred additional employees working in Eastern and Southern Africa.

About the Role
ALG’s US Office is looking for a part-time Communications Summer Associate to help manage donor and investor relations in support of an annual $10M revenue goal. This role will support our donor and investor-facing team, so you will have tremendous exposure to ALG’s US business development. You will be responsible for:

Creating visual materials that contain impactful and inspiring content and are consistent with our brand and mission
Delivering various collateral to help advance and enhance key partner engagements and relationships
Supporting research efforts related to growing and managing our pipeline of prospective and current donors/investors
Assisting in various event planning, coordination and on-site execution, as necessary
Identifying new opportunities to innovate and improve current operational and programmatic systems and processes
Analyzing data while helping maintain clean and updated internal records Supporting the remainder of the Strategic Initiatives team as needed including but not limited to scheduling, travel and expense reports, ad-hoc research, data collection and analysis drafting.

Are inquisitive and driven: not accepting of the status quo, but instead asking questions such as “Why are things like this?” and “How can I do this better?”
Respond effectively and appropriately to constructive feedback
Are optimistic, have a good sense of humor and can roll with the punches

Candidates that are recent graduates or are pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in art, design, communications, public relations, business management or other relevant fields are encouraged to apply.

Preferred candidates will have demonstrated experience working with Salesforce, Keynote and Adobe Creative Suite. Graphic Design and Public relations knowledge is a plus.

Compensation
Compensation for the summer internship program is given as a competitive monthly living stipend. You will be expected to work a minimum of 25-30 hours per week for 10 weeks or more.
