Manager, Investors' Council & Leadership Initiatives
ABOUT THE JOB
The Membership program provides a platform for like-minded organizations to deepen their engagement with the impact investment industry. The membership aims to serve two functions – (1) It assembles and maintains a community of actors (i.e. the Membership body) that contribute resources (both financial and non-financial) to the realization of the GIIN strategy; and (2) It delivers an advocacy function through enabling collaboration within and amongst the membership around targeted efforts to raise the professionalism of the industry as a whole and to enable individual members to apply best practices.
Within the Membership, the Investors’ Council (IC) is an invitation-only leadership group for active, large-scale impact investors. It provides a forum for experienced investors to strengthen practice, collaborate to address shared challenges, and lead the development of the industry. There are currently over 50 IC members, including foundations, development finance institutions, banks, family offices, pension funds, insurance companies, and asset managers.
The GIIN is seeking a Manager to support the Investors’ Council programming and knowledge sharing initiatives among the wider GIIN membership. The Manager also will also contribute to broader engagement efforts that are critical to the success Membership Program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for impact investing. They will have demonstrated experience in client-facing roles, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
The Manager will report to the Director of Network Membership.
• Oversee relationship management and programming for the Investors’ Council (IC)
o Collaborate with the Director to build the strategy and value proposition for the GIIN’s Investors’ Council (IC), and translate that into activities for its members
o Lead the execution of the Investors’ Council Annual Meeting and any additional IC-only events over the course of the year
o Engage individually and in group settings with IC members to gather feedback and drive action, including the developing and leading the IC Leadership Initiative
o Oversee the annual process of membership renewals and work with the Director on the strategy for recruiting new members.
• Develop and manage dedicated capacity-building networks (‘knowledge hubs’) in areas of interest for GIIN members, including optimizing alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
o Build communities, within the GIIN network, where members can gain knowledge on investment themes that are of interest to subsets of the membership
o In collaboration with other team members, identify opportunities for communities to make contributions into other GIIN activities
o These knowledge hubs will initially include:
• Contribute to the growth of GIIN membership
o Conduct meetings and other outreach to persuasively communicate the benefits of becoming a member of the GIIN
o Execute events, in collaboration with other teams to support the GIIN’s engagement with Members and market leadership
• Maintain current information on engagement with members
o Undertake assigned liaison/coordination roles with other parts of GIIN
• Track member engagement in Salesforce and in other formats as needed
• Additional responsibilities based on organizational needs
The Manager must have demonstrated success in working effectively with diverse stakeholders and balancing deliverables on multiple projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal, strategic and problem-solving skills. They are creative and adept at identifying market trends and translating them into value propositions for the GIIN Membership. Familiarity with financial instruments and investment concepts, structures, and practice is highly preferred.
• 8 or more years of relevant work experience showing ability to manage projects, key relationships, and multi-stakeholder engagements
• Direct experience in the financial sector is highly preferred.
• Ability to communicate the implications of environmental and social issues for the development of impact investment products and services.
• Demonstrated relationship management experience; passion for networking and playing the role of connector to help others build strong relationships
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with public speaking/presentation experience required
• Intellectual drive, thinking about big issues, what makes and moves markets, what inspires people
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently
• Willingness to work outside of normal business hours at times of peak project flow
• Skills Microsoft Office Suite and experience with Salesforce or other customer relationship management (CRM) system is required
• Event planning experience strongly preferred

LOCATION:Full-time role in a flexible, entrepreneurial culture. This position will be based in New York, NY.
COMPENSATION: Competitive compensation, commensurate with experience.
