Asian Development Bank Chief Economist Dr. Shang-Jin Wei presented the findings from ADB's flagship economic publication, the Asian Development Outlook 2016 (ADO). The ADO provides a comprehensive analysis of macroeconomic issues in developing Asia, including growth projections by country and region. Asia's growth pace has declined since the global financial crisis leading some pundits to dub the situation the “New Normal.” This year’s ADO theme, Asia’s Potential Growth, explores the extent that this growth deceleration can be seen as a drop in the region’s productive capacity, and offers policy advice to counteract the slowdown. This event was co-sponsored by the Georgetown Anti-Poverty Society, the Asia-Pacific Forum, Net Impact, Emerging Markets Network and the MS in Foreign Service Program.
