Lion Leftovers is tackling food waste in the State College community. Modeled after other organizations in cities and campuses nationwide, the group partners with local grocery stores and restaurants to deliver unused food to shelters in the surrounding area. Our organization has provided the shelters with Tupperware to create a more sustainable system than aluminum pans and food that would otherwise be sent to landfills or compost is now providing meals for people at a local youth shelter and a women's resource center. The project was launched this year by the VP of Service Corps, Rayne Smith, and has fed over thirty people with each of the five food runs.
