One very distinct aspect about C.A.U.S.E. is our student-ran, social business: CAUSE Pizza Sales! CAUSE has partnered with a local pizza restaurant, Pizza Pros, to make and sell their pizza in the Northern Illinois College of Business building. Our members get up every Thursday morning and head over to Pizza Pros to make the pizzas by hand. We then take them to our College of Business, set up a table, and sell pizza by the slice. Our prices are $3 for one slice and $5 for two slices. What makes our pizza sales a social business is that we donate 50% of the profits we make to a new charity or social business every month. We get students in the college of business involved with who we donate to by asking for their vote. On the last Wednesday of the month, our members vote on two different organizations, and then open the final vote to students the next day. We place two different jars on our table when selling pizza and ask students to vote for the organization we should donate to by placing spare change or cash in the jars. We also give students the option to Snapchat us who they want to vote for. We have a continuous Snapchat filter for each time we sell pizza, but for the last Thursday of the month, we create two different filters based on the two organizations students can vote for. They can then Snapchat our Snapchat account the organization they want to vote for by using our filters. It’s a great way to get students involved and expose them to ways they can help others in need through CAUSE. We can also use our pizza sales table as a recruitment tool. Overall, our pizza sales social business is a fun way to make a difference in our community, and around the world!
