Paul Hawken, author of NYT Best Seller Project Drawdown has identified the 100 most substantive solutions to reverse global warming. The Net Impact Drawdown SHARE Program enabled participants to join the movement in spreading the word through a competition between chapters worldwide to reach the most number of people for prizes and recognition.
Grand Prize Winner
Simardeep Kochar of the Arizona State University- W.P Carey School of Business won the Grand Prize, awarded to the Chapter that reached the most people with climate solutions. They reached 23,000+ individuals by creating an original video that was shared, with high viewer engagement, by Project Drawdown, Paul Hawken, Green Biz, and on the ASU online discussion forum.
Most Creative Winner
Saurabh Deosarkar and his team at the India Institutes of Technology won the Most Creative Prize, awarded to the Chapter that reached people with climate solutions in the most creative way. They held a workshop on campus, created a blog from scratch that showcased solutions, led a Facebook profile picture and solution count down campaign, and created an original video.
The Earth University Chapter team wins an Honorable Mention for their efforts to share climate solutions by having peers write affirmations on signs at their graduation ceremony and by making a video.
The York University - Schulich School of Business - Graduate Chapter wins an Honorable Mention for having reached over 300 people with a social media campaign and class presentation.
About the program
- Program leaders received a toolkit with details on the climate change solutions, creative activity ideas and the freedom to invent their own, funding and staff support from Net Impact Central, and points toward Gold Status
- It was an opportunity to build their resumes by leading a large scale campaign, and contribute to the most pressing environmental issue of our time through a positive and solutions-oriented message
- After getting familiar with the solutions, they developed an original message about drawdown solutions to share with peers, developed a strategy or activity to get their message out, and submitted their progress to qualify in the competition
