Challenge Brief coming soon
About the (em)Powering Homes Electrification Challenge
The (em)Powering Homes Electrification Challenge calls upon California students to craft creative customer engagement strategies to advance home and neighborhood electrification within PG&E’s diverse customer base.
PG&E has ambitious plans to enable home and neighborhood electrification at scale in order to achieve California's - and PG&E’s - climate goals. Doing so requires home electrification to be the preferred choice for customers and to be equitable and accessible to all customers. California residents who have already implemented home electrification are largely first adopters, who represent critical voices in shaping public perception, presenting opportunities and risks around accelerating electrification. For example, if early adopters serve as proactive advocates, they can make a meaningful difference in inspiring others to electrify. On the other hand, if customers share negative experiences, they can slow peer adoption and weaken support for our ambitious goals.
The assignment for this challenge is two-fold: designing strategies that:
- Improve customer understanding of electrification benefits and cost savings, even if savings aren’t immediate
- Activate electrified customers to serve as “promoters” of electrification – generally and within their community
