Position Summary
Exponent Partners is growing - in staff, financially, and in the social impact we achieve. To support and continue that growth, we are seeking a key addition to our executive team. The Vice President of Finance and Operations will be a strategic leader for the organization, and provide hands-on engagement in several functions which are vital to a high-performing organization, including finance, human resources, legal, and company administration. This role will report to the CEO and be located in our headquarters in San Francisco.

We are seeking a dynamic leader with a performance management mindset who is motivated by our social mission. Exponent Partners is a social venture, a California benefit corporation, and a certified B Corporation that is dedicated to supporting positive social change through technology and providing a great working environment for our team members.

Primary Responsibilities
Strategy, Vision and Leadership

Advise the CEO and other key members of senior management on financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, and policy matters; effectively communicate and present critical financial matters at executive team and committee meetings.

Contribute to the development of Exponent Partners’ strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the organization.

Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the CEO and senior management informed of all critical issues.

Represent the organization externally in contracts, banking, insurance, financing, and lease negotiations.

Team Management and Development

Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the finance and operations teams, including staff, consultants, and outside service providers including legal and tax.

Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.

Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, manage annual performance appraisals and salary adjustments.

Operations

Develop and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures. Implement and operate performance management systems for high-performing, transparent business processes across the organization. Supervise the management of internal information technology.

Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual budget process. Deliver monthly and quarterly performance reports and provide analytic support to management. Prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations and product investment decisions.

Manage administrative and operational services such as treasury management, employee benefits administration, payroll, accounts payable, and purchasing.

Qualifications
Business or Accounting degree mandatory, an MBA is preferred. CPA a plus.

Minimum 5 to 10 years’ experience in a senior management role in a high-growth organization.

Proven track record of instilling a high-performance mindset within a growing organization.

Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

Strong mentoring, coaching experience to a diverse team with varying levels of expertise.

Entrepreneurial team player who can multitask; self reliant and results oriented.

Superior management skills, ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.

Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical finance and administration initiatives.

Knowledge of finance, GAAP accounting, budgeting, cost control principles and automated financial reporting systems.

Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interface with senior management, our clients, and our staff.

Experience either as an employee or board member of a nonprofit organization preferred.
