Net Impact Awards "Chapter of the Year" Honors

(San Francisco, CA) – Net Impact, a leading nonprofit that inspires a new generation to work for a sustainable future, released the 2014 Chapter of the Year winners, a designation awarded to one outstanding chapter in each of the undergraduate, graduate, and professional chapter segments. This year’s award went to the Net Impact chapters at Yale University (undergraduate), University of Texas McCombs School of Business (graduate), and the Boston Professional Chapter.

The Chapters of the Year are those that exemplify dedication to Net Impact’s mission through dynamic events, programming, and partnerships. Each year, Net Impact selects finalists from a pool of our undergraduate, graduate, and professional chapters that achieved Gold status. The finalists are tasked with presenting the year’s activities and highlights to a panel of three judges, comprised of one representative from a Net Impact sponsor company, a board member, and a staff member.

Highlights of chapter accomplishments include:

  • The Net Impact Yale Undergraduate Chapter launched a marathon consulting event with four local social enterprises and hosted a Social Sector Career Fair for undergraduates interested in the social impact space.
  • University of Texas McCombs School of Business Net Impact leadership managed to quadruple attendance to their one-day Business for Good Summit and placed 46 members on the boards of 26 different nonprofits through their Board Fellows program.
  • Net Impact Boston Professionals hosted the 2nd Annual Net Impact Boston Career Summit, collaborating with nine Net Impact graduate chapters in the area. The Summit brought together over 130 graduate students, job seekers, and professionals interested in careers with positive social or environmental impact, and featured networking opportunities, panel sessions, and a career expo.

“The winners of the Net Impact Chapter of the Year awards epitomize the initiative that inspire our members to make a positive impact on campus and throughout their careers,” says Paul Campbell, Net Impact’s Director of Student and Professional Programs. “We are continually amazed by the way these chapters create innovative opportunities for their members to create impact through networking events, pro bono consulting engagements, regional conferences, and more.”
