In a country most known for their rich and beautiful history, you can find two social innovative designers who are making history of their own. Lourdes and Carolina have made it their mission to create projects that are designed to have a positive social impact. These two decided the best way to make their visions come to life was to start a professional Net Impact Chapter in Peru.

Lourdes and Carolina feel that it is imperative to reach out to undergraduate students, as well as teachers, to encourage them to think differently and challenge the status quo. “In the educational system, only a few universities think outside the box and refresh their traditional mindset in order to focus on an active learning experience which includes user experience, qualitative research, as well as social and cultural problem solving.”  Through the launch of their Net Impact Chapter, Lourdes and Carolina have been able to inspire the start of additional Net Impact Chapters throughout various universities in Peru.

The Peru Professional Chapter, has partnered with UTEC Ventures to create a platform where students and entrepreneurs can share and cultivate ideas for the future, in regards to technological solutions while keeping social needs and sustainability in mind.

The partnership between The Peru Professional Chapter and UTEC proved to be magical. Various groups and organizations, who all share a strong passion for change, came together to discuss social and environmental issues using their multidisciplinary perspectives.

Lourdes and Carolina have big plans for their Chapter this year: “We are currently creating the Net Impact UTEC Chapter and we will soon start an experience which includes applying the Design Thinking methodologies to different challenges they will receive from real local and international organizations.”

Net Impact hopes to mobilize new generations to use their skills and careers to drive transformational social and environmental change. The Peru Professional Chapter is doing just that; pairing passion with hard work will make them unstoppable!
