"Technology Innovation and Financial Services"

John Hayes, Chairman at NOWAccount, is an innovator in the financial technology space and 1971 ISyE graduate of Georgia Tech. He discusses the role of technology innovation in the growth of the financial services industry. He uses three case examples, the growth of branch banking, the credit card system, and the newly emerging trade credit system, to illustrate how specific technology innovations enabled the introduction of new products and growth in the industry. He also talks about the difficulty of technology innovation in the highly structured and regulated financial industry and how these lessons apply to all industries.

Since 2002, the IMPACT Speaker Series has brought highly successful business leaders from a variety of industries to campus to share their experiences and give advice to students and other entrepreneurs on topics ranging from "building a venture around intellectual capital" to "successful entrepreneurship in large organizations" and "socially responsible leadership."
